Hay Camera Club

About Hay Camera Club

Welcome to Hay Camera Club. The Club was founded in the 1940s with the aim of improving the photographic art and technique of its members.

Hay-on-Wye is situated in the beautiful Wye Valley at the foot of the Black Mountains in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Our members normally meet close by at Llanigon Village Hall on Tuesday evenings at 7:30pm, but please check our full calendar of events in advance.

At our regular weekly meetings we exchange ideas and advice on everything photographic from cameras and lenses to composition and editing. We have around 6 in-house competitions a year, as well as about 4 outside battles, when we invite an external judge to comment on our work and, most importantly, to encourage us. We enjoy regular workshops and presentations by visiting professional and amateur speakers, who share their own work, and also from our own members. During the summer months we frequently organise photo shoots and trips to interesting locations.

We are affiliated to the Welsh Photographic Federation and have links with other local clubs in the Welsh Marches, and even to one as far afield as New Zealand!

The membership includes all levels of ability from the very experienced to the complete novice and is wholly representative of the local community. We are a very friendly and sociable group and organise regular social events. New members are always most welcome.
